Women in Telecoms and Technology (WiTT)
Women in Telecoms and Technology (WiTT) is a networking group which meets on a monthly basis. The meetings are held at Ofcom’s London office, Riverside House, 2a Southwark Bridge Road, London, SE1 9HA.
WiTT was founded in November 2001 to provide a forum to enable women working in the communications and technology industries in the UK to share their experiences, exchange ideas and opportunities.
The group is aimed at women at all levels, working in a range of areas from broadcasting to spectrum management, telecoms and engineering. The group gives women in these sectors and functions the opportunity to network and learn from each other in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
At each meeting members informally network over refreshments, a guest speaker tells of their own experiences, followed by networking continuing over dinner at a local restaurant.
Aims & Objectives
- To network and meet other women who share a common interest in the telecommunications and technology industries
- To educate members on current and future trends in the industry
- To provide guidance and mentoring through the exploration of real-life career paths
- To share ideas about how to operate in the current work environment
Recent speakers have included Sir Christopher Bland, Chairman of BT Group, actress Floella Benjamin, Penny Hamer, CEO of Breaking Glass and Richard Hooper, Chairman of Informa.
