Note Of The Second Meeting Of The Ofcom Community Radio Fund Panel Held at Riverside House, 2a Southwark Bridge Road, London on Tuesday 14th February 2006.
Chairman’s Introduction
1. The Chairman welcomed Members to the second meeting of the Ofcom Community Radio Fund Panel. All members were present throughout. Other Ofcom colleagues were also present throughout.
Matters Arising
2. There were no matters arising that were not being dealt with under items on the Agenda.
Community radio fund grant award process.
3. The Panel noted that twenty applications had been received for grants totalling £916,198. Three of the applications were invalid at this time because they are from groups that are not commencing broadcasts before the end of March 2006. The total applied for by the 17 valid applications was £771,198.
4. The Panel noted that the fund available was £485,022.50 rather than £500,000. This was because DCMS had allocated some money within this financial year to other community radio associated projects.
5. The Panel gave full and careful consideration to each application and awarded grants which amounted to a total of £444,026.
6. The Panel agreed that a statement explaining the key factors which led the Panel to its decisions to award the grants would be published in due course.

It was agreed that the guidance notes would be amended to encourage future applications to include more detail regarding job descriptions and additional core costs details surrounding salaries (NI, pension costs etc).
Date of next meeting
