Sue Balsom
First term of Appointment: 3 years. (1 May 2003 to 30 June 2006). Reappointed Term: 3 years (1 July 2006 to 30 June 2009)
Sue Balsom is Managing Director of her own successful, bilingual PR,
Design and Publishing business founded in 1989. She is a former teacher,
university careers adviser and journalist. Born in London, she has lived
in Aberystwyth, West Wales for 35 years and has learnt Welsh. She was
a member of the TV-AM regional board until 1992 and was Vice-Chair of
the BBC’s Broadcasting Council for Wales 1996-2001. She served on the Board of Welsh Development Agency, Finance Wales and the
Prince’s Trust Cymru, is a Trustee at the Centre for Alternative
Technology and also the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Sue recently became a Member of the Design Skills Panel of the Design Council of the UK.
Sue is the Wales representative for the Content Board and is a member
(on a rotational basis) of the Fairness Committee and the Content Sanctions
Committee and attends by invitation the meetings of the Ofcom Advisory
Committee for Wales.
