Term of appointment - 7.25 years. Millie Banerjee was appointed to the Board of Ofcom in September 2002 for an initial five year terms which was subsequently extended for a further 27 months through to December 2009. She is the Chair of the British Transport Police Authority. She is a member of the Board of Consumer Focus and of the Peabody Trust. Previously she spent 25 years with BT (1970-1995), culminating at Director level in BT Products and Services Division, followed by Senior Vice President ICO Global Communications (1995-2000). She has been a member of the Strategy Board of the Cabinet Office (1998-2005). She has held several non-executive appointments including a non-executive director of the Strategic Rail Authority (2000-2005); the Sector Skills Development Agency (2002-2004); Channel 4 TV (2000-2002); the Prisons Board (1990-1995); a Board Member of Focus (1994-1998); and a member of the governing body of South Bank University (1993-1997). She was a Commissioner for Judicial Appointments from 2001-2006. She joined the Content Board with effect from 1 July 2006, in addition to her main Board responsibilities and is also Chair of Ofcom's Remuneration Committee.
