Equality and Diversity
Ofcom’s approach to Diversity and Equality
Treat all colleagues with dignity and respect in an inclusive and fair working environment, promoting equality of opportunity for all
At Ofcom we are determined to do all we can when it comes to promoting Equality and Diversity inside our organisation and in the wider sectors we regulate.
Regular diversity updates are given to the Ofcom Board and Executive Committee on the progress of various initiatives under the Diversity and Equality workstream.
Our main focus includes:
Single Equality Scheme
The Single Equality Scheme brings together and strengthens our commitment towards diversity and equality; it explains how diversity and equality are essential to the way we operate, both as an employer and as the UK’s communications regulator.
Ofcom’s second single Equality Scheme was published in October 2011 and takes in to consideration new obligations under the Equality Act 2010.
Benchmarking
Ofcom is a member of four national employer organisations: Stonewall Diversity Champions, Employers’ Forum on Disability (EFD), Race for Opportunity (RfO), and Opportunity Now. These organisations offer benchmarking services which allow us to compare our business processes to industry best practices and to understand how well we are performing in our activities to promote diversity in employment.
