The Team

The team in Scotland is led by its Director, Vicki Nash.

Vicki Nash, Director, Scotland

Vicki Nash

Vicki has worked in the public sector for the past 29 years, in the Civil Service, local government, non-departmental public bodies and regulatory organisations.

Following a first degree in Psychology and Anthropology, then a PhD in Psychology, Vicki worked as a Senior Research Officer in the Education Department of the Scottish Office and then joined the Scottish Microelectronics Development Programme (part of Scottish Council for Educational Technology, now Learning and Teaching Scotland).

In 1985 she joined Fife Regional Council as a Policy Officer and in 1987 became Assistant Chief Executive, then Chief Executive in 1995. Vicki left local government in 1996 to become Director of the Scottish Water & Sewerage Customers Council, which for 3 years was the regulatory and watchdog organisation for the (then) three water authorities in Scotland.

Vicki returned to local government in 1999 as Chief Executive of East Dunbartonshire Council, before joining Ofcom in April 2004.

Vicki is Vice Chairman of NHS Forth Valley.

Team

Alan Stewart, Regulatory Affairs Manager

Alan Stewart

Alan is a Regulatory Affairs Manager with Ofcom Scotland. He leads on broadcasting issues in relation to Scotland – including Gaelic – and on the annual Communications Market Report for Scotland. Alan also briefs stakeholders in Scotland on Ofcom’s involvement in broadcast regulation.

Alan moved to Ofcom from the Independent Television Commission where he was head of its office in Scotland from September 2000. He was with the ITC for more than nine years and had spells running its offices in Belfast and Manchester.

Claire Mack, Regulatory Affairs Manager

Claire Mack

Claire is a Regulatory Affairs Manager with Ofcom Scotland. She leads on telecoms and spectrum issues in relation to Scotland and ensures that stakeholders in Scotland know and understand the implications of Ofcom’s policies in these areas. Communication with Scottish politicians and civil servants are key and it is important part of Claire’s role. She also manages the agenda and provides support to the Cross Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Digital Participation reflecting Ofcom’s information provision role and overview with regard to the communications sector.

Before Ofcom, Claire worked for the Independent Television Commission heavily involved with content issues and complaints with regard to regional broadcasting in Scotland, the North East of England and the Border area.

Debra Hughes, Regulatory Affairs Assistant

Debbie joined Ofcom at the end of January 2011 after working in a pensions department for a large insurance company for over 20 years. Debbie works part-time in the Glasgow office and her current role is as PA to the Director but also looks after all the administration for the team.

Debbie is a mum to a 21 year old son and got married in October 2011. Debbie enjoys spending time with her family, amateur dramatics, camping and loves holidaying on Islay.
