Tips for making the most of PDFs

Many documents on this website are available in Adobe’s Portable Document Format (PDF). We make every effort to ensure our documents fully accessible. The following may help you to get the most out of PDFs.

Upgrade to the latest free reader

The latest version of Adobe’s free Acrobat Reader software has improved accessibility features. You can download the software from Adobe’s website.

There are also other PDF readers available.

Convert a PDF document to a web page

Adobe offer a PDF to web page conversion service on their website. This may help if your assistive technology cannot access a PDF. Visit Adobe’s website for more information.

Save a PDF before opening it

It may be more convenient to save the PDF file to your computer and then open it in the PDF viewer of your choice.

If you use Internet Explorer on Windows, right-click over the link to the PDF and select Save Target As.

If you use Firefox on Windows, right-click over the link to the PDF and select Save Link As.

If you use Firefox on Mac OS X, right-click over the link to the PDF and select Save Link As.

If you use Safari on Mac OS X, right-click over the link to the PDF and select Download Link As.

If you use a different operating system or browser, refer to your system or browser help for assistance.
