Privacy issues - spam email and offensive internet content
Unsolicited emails - known as spam - can be annoying. Sometimes they can also be offensive.
Please note that Ofcom does not regulate the internet. We also do not regulate emails. Instead, you should speak to your Internet Service Provider for the latest advice on protecting you and your family from unwanted emails sent by spammers.
Your Internet Service Provider can give you more advice about how to cut down on spam, spot fake websites and avoid being ripped off online. If you receive a fake email claiming to come from your bank or credit card company, you should also contact your bank or credit card company’s Fraud Prevention team to tell them about this.
