Inquiry into the use of premium rate telephone numbers (PRS) in television programmes
Ofcom has published the outcome of the inquiry into the use of premium rate telephone numbers (PRS) in television programmes.
The inquiry, led by Richard Ayre, was launched by Ofcom in March 2007 following allegations about programmes using premium rate numbers. These raised serious concerns for Ofcom about the potential scale of compliance failure in this area, and on the impact on trust between broadcasters and viewers.
