High Definition Television (HDTV)
Most TV channels are still broadcast in standard definition (SD) today and appear as such even when viewed on an HDTV set. Programmes must be specifically produced (or up-converted) in the HD format and then be broadcast in that format before you can watch them on HD compatible equipment. Some HDTV channels may still contain some SD programmes.
