Advice on TV reception and interference
If you are experiencing problems with a number of electronic devices in your house - for example, jagged lines on your TV as well as buzzing or crackling on a radio - you may be experiencing interference from another electrical device inside your home or close to it.
Potential causes inside the home can include central heating thermostats, fridge-freezers and some dimmer switches, for example on halogen lights. TV screens can also be affected by the magnets inside hi-fi speakers, so you should avoid putting these on top of or next to your TV set. Under some circumstances, high voltage electrical equipment outside your home can also cause interference.
You can also ask our specialist field engineers to investigate. However, please note that under certain circumstances we may need to charge for our engineers’ time.
