Video Relay Service

Ofcom offers a video relay service free of charge for consumers wishing to contact Ofcom in British Sign Language. Consumers will require a computer with webcam capabilities and broadband internet connection.
Please follow the steps below in order to activate the service.

Step 1:
Follow the link to register for Sign on Screen software:

(The software was designed for the Reach 112 trial and the registration form contains some questions about health and disability that are not relevant to Ofcom. This information will be stored securely by Sign on Screen and not seen by Ofcom.)

Step 2:
After submitting your registration details, you will be sent an email within 24 hours (longer at weekends) with your username and password and a link to download the software.

Step 3:
After download is complete, start up Sign on Screen and log in. To make a call click on the ‘Call’ button with the green phone icon, and a dialbox will appear. Please then enter Ofcom’s phone number: 0300 123 3333
Note that the service is available from 9.00 – 16.45 Monday to Thursday and from 9.00 – 15.30 on Fridays.
