Kevin Carey

Director - humanITy

Educated at Cambridge and Harvard, Kevin worked for 15 years in developing countries before turning to what was then called the ‘Digital Divide’ - which he saw primarily as a matter of social and economic justice not as a technological challenge. He formed his own consultancy, Lateral Thinking on IT before founding humanITy in 1997. Kevin has been a broadcaster, classical music critic, published poet and parliamentary candidate and is currently active as Vice Chair of the Royal National Institute for the Blind and Chair of its Audit Committee; Chair of the Ofcom Community Radio Fund Panel; and a Member of the General Synod of the Church of England. He is a regular contributor to ‘Managing Information’ and ‘Ability Magazine’.
