Ofcom publishes consultation on Community Radio Fund
Ofcom today publishes its proposals on the management and administration of the new Community Radio Fund.
The Community Radio Fund has been established under the Communications Act 2003 to provide financial support to new Community Radio stations. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport has made £500,000 available to the fund for the 2004/5 financial year. It has also agreed to make the same amount available for 2005/6 and has indicated that a similar amount is likely to be made available in the medium term.
Ofcom's overall aim is to ensure that any financial support given from the Fund to Community Radio broadcasters is well targeted and delivered in a cost-effective and transparent manner.
The consultation on the Community Radio Fund is available under Related Items to the right of this page. The closing date for responses is 3 March 2005 .
Ends.
