Ofcom Appoints Additional Members to Advisory Committee for Scotland

Ofcom today announced the appointment of three additional members to its Advisory Committee for Scotland.

As set out in the Communications Act 2003, the Advisory Committee has been established to provide advice to Ofcom (and other committees established by Ofcom) about the interests and opinions of people living in  Scotland on communications matters.

The new members, who will join seven existing members, are: 

Julie Ramage from Cambuslang, currently Head of Research with nmp Ltd. Her previous experience includes a Senior Analyst post with Analysys Research and lecturing at Queen Margaret University College in Edinburgh.

Martin Robertson is the Public Relations Manager with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) in Edinburgh. His previous experience was with the press team at the Scottish Executive and as a broadcaster for Radio Forth and AA Roadwatch.

Susan Neal from Lockerbie is a Communications Officer with Dumfries and Galloway Council. Her background is in consumer advice for Dumfries and Galloway Council, the Office of Fair Trading, the manufacturing and retail industry. She also has experience as a small business operator.

Vicki Nash, Director, Ofcom Scotland, and the current Chair of the Advisory Committee, said: “The role of the Committee is to ensure that Scotland has its say on a range of broadcasting, telecoms and wireless communications matters. Our new members will complement and enhance an already strong body of opinion on Ofcom's performance and policies.”

The Ofcom Advisory Committee for Scotland  is next due to meet in Glasgow on 2 March 2005.
