Ofcom publishes Annual Plan 2005/6 for consultation

Ofcom today published its draft Annual Plan for the year April 2005 to March 2006. The Plan sets out the details of Ofcom's proposed key priorities for the next operating financial year. It is subject to consultation until 3 March 2005. The final version of the Annual Plan will be published in April.

The Annual Plan is published in accordance with Ofcom's established regulatory principles. These principles state that Ofcom will regulate according to a clearly articulated and publicly reviewed Annual Plan, with stated policy objectives.

In 2005/6 Ofcom will focus on opening up markets by implementing the outcomes of the strategic reviews of spectrum, public service television broadcasting and telecommunications and implementing the findings of its analysis of the radio market. This will be a period of significant regulatory change, renewal and – in some key areas – withdrawal.

The full draft Annual Plan is available at http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consult/condocs/annual_plan2005/ and via the Related Items link on the right of this page.
