Ofcom Tariff Tables for 2005/6 set out regulatory cost reductions
Ofcom today published its Tariff Tables setting out by sector the regulatory fees due across telecommunications, broadcasting and radiospectrum for the financial year to 31 March 2006.
The document shows that:
- Ofcom’s operating budget for 2005/6 will be 8% lower in real terms than the operating budget for 2004/5.
- Greater effectiveness in tariff collection has spread fees more fairly over a wider base of stakeholders than was the case under the previous regulators.
- Higher than expected efficiency savings in 2004/5 in the first year post-merger have enabled Ofcom to deliver its work under budget.
- Those factors, combined with the rephasing of some major projects now due to be completed in 2005/6, have generated efficiency savings which will be remitted back to industry in line with Sections 38 and 347 of the Communications Act 2003.
Ends.
