Ofcom announces new Content Board member
Ofcom today announced the appointment of Joyce Taylor as a non-executive member of its Content Board. Joyce will become the Content Board member for Scotland. The Content Board is the committee of the main Ofcom Board with delegated responsibility for content issues.
Joyce Taylor has extensive experience in broadcasting and has been the chair of Ofcom’s Advisory Committee for Scotland since September 2005. Joyce will step down from the Advisory Committee with immediate effect. In the past she has been managing director of Discovery Networks Europe, CEO of Flextech Television and a non-executive director of Mersey Television.
Under Section 12 of the Communications Act 2003 four non-executive members of the Content Board are appointed to represent to Ofcom the interests and opinions of people living in Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England.
Today’s appointment follows a review of the role of the Content Board undertaken in April by Philip Graf, Chairman of the Content Board and Deputy Chairman of Ofcom.
Philip Graf said: “Joyce's experience in the broadcasting sector will make an important contribution to the work of the Ofcom Content Board and its role in shaping Ofcom’s approach to digital broadcasting”.
The appointment is for four years and the term begins 1 September 2006.
Ends.
