Ofcom awards one new community radio licence
Ofcom today announces the award of one new community radio licence, for a service for the Jewish community in Leeds.
Community radio services typically cover a small geographical area and are provided on a not-for-profit basis focusing on the delivery of specific social benefits to enrich a particular geographical community or a community of interest.
The new community radio licensee is:

Radio JCom will broadcast on medium wave for the Leeds Jewish community with information and programmes about the various interests of the community. The station will encourage participation by organisations and individuals, and offer training.
Licences are awarded for a five-year period.
A statement setting out the main determining factors for the award of the community radio licence to Radio JCom will be available shortly from the Ofcom website.
