Ofcom awards one new community radio licence
Ofcom today announces the award of a community radio licence to Corby Radio.
Community radio services typically cover a small geographical area and are provided on a not-for-profit basis focusing on the delivery of specific social benefits to enrich a particular geographical community or a community of interest.

Corby Radio will provide a community-focussed radio station, strong on local issues and news combined with popular music for all tastes, genres and ages. The station will aim to involve as many people as possible in the output and operation of the station and its Radio Training Academy.
Licences are awarded for a five-year period.
A statement setting out the main determining factors for the award of the community radio licence referred to above will be available shortly from the Ofcom website.
