Advertisement of FM Local Commercial Radio Licence for PLYMOUTH
Introduction
1.1 Ofcom, in accordance with section 104(1) of the Broadcasting Act 1990, invites applications for a licence to provide an Independent Local Radio (ILR) service on the FM (VHF) waveband covering the Plymouth area, for a maximum period of twelve years from the commencement of broadcasting.
1.2 The closing-date for the receipt of completed applications will be 3.00 pm on 30th April 2008. A fee of £5,000 will be payable for each application submitted. This fee will not be refundable in any circumstances.
1.3 The application requirements set out in this document contain some variations from previous analogue commercial radio licence advertisements, especially in respect of the Format that applicants are required to include in their applications. As a result of these changes, Ofcom is intending to hold a workshop in Plymouth during January 2008 for all prospective applicants for this licence, in order to clarify the new requirements. If you are intending to apply for this licence and would like to attend the workshop, please e-mail to commercialradio@ofcom.org.uk, or write to Neil Stock, Head of Radio, Ofcom, Riverside House, 2a Southwark Bridge Road, London, SE1 9HA no later than 4 January 2008.
