Advertisement of Local Radio Multiplex Licence: Northamptonshire

Introduction

1.1 Ofcom, in accordance with section 50 of the Broadcasting Act 1996 ("the 1996 Act"), invites applications for a licence to provide a local radio multiplex service. The frequency available for this licence is a standard VHF DAB channel known internationally as 'Frequency Block 10C (centre frequency of 213.360 MHz)'. This licence is offered for a service designed to cover the county of Northamptonshire, subject to frequency and transmitter siting constraints, and will be granted for a maximum period of twelve years from the commencement of broadcasting.

1.2 In pursuance of a direction under section 49 of the 1996 Act, digital capacity of 128 kbits/sec is reserved on a net basis to the BBC for the broadcasting in digital form of its local radio service, BBC Radio Northampton.

1.3 The closing-date for the receipt of completed applications will be 3.00pm on Tuesday 3 July 2007. A fee of £5,000 will be payable for each application submitted. This fee will not be refundable in any circumstances.
