Ofcom has received two applications for the Oxfordshire local digital radio multiplex licence.

MuxCo Oxfordshire Limited also proposes to provide "a wide selection of podcasts provided by a range of companies".
MuxCo Oxfordshire Limited proposes to commence its service with all ten proposed local digital sound programme services and BBC Radio Oxford in September 2008, using a network of three transmitters which it estimates will provide noise-limited 'outdoor' coverage of 89.5% of the adult (aged 15+) population of the licensed area. The applicant proposes to implement one further transmitter within one year of the launch of the service, which it estimates will increase noise-limited 'outdoor' coverage to 89.9% of the adult population of the licensed area.

Now Digital (Oxford) Limited proposes to commence its service with seven local digital sound programme services by October 2008, using a network of three transmitters which it estimates will provide noise-limited 'outdoor' coverage of 89.1% of the adult (aged 15+) population of the licensed area. The 'Soft adult alternative' local digital sound programme service is proposed to launch "within six months of ownership DAB penetration reaching 25% in Oxfordshire, or earlier".
This local radio multiplex will include capacity reserved for the transmission in digital form of BBC Radio Oxford.
The full applications for this licence will be published on the Ofcom website shortly. Ofcom seeks views on these applications by 18 October 2007.
