Ofcom has received two applications for the Northamptonshire local digital radio multiplex licence.

MuxCo Northamptonshire Limited proposes to commence its service with all nine proposed local digital sound programme services and BBC Radio Northampton in October 2008, using a network of three transmitters which it estimates will provide 'outdoor' coverage of 92.1% of the adult (aged 15+) population of the licensed area.

Now Digital Limited proposes to commence its service with all nine local digital sound programme services by September 2008, using a network of three transmitters which it estimates will provide 'outdoor' coverage of 92.9% of the adult (aged 15+) population of the licensed area.

This local radio multiplex will include capacity reserved for the transmission in digital form of BBC Radio Northampton.

The full applications for this licence will be published on the Ofcom website shortly. Ofcom seeks views on these applications by 20 September 2007.
