Content Sampling Reports

Ofcom ensures that an individual station is meeting its Format requirements by listening to that station’s output - a process which we refer to as ‘content sampling’. The sampling of a particular station may be prompted by a complaint concerning a Format-related issue, or may be entirely routine.

The following multiplex Format changes were agreed in this period.

Real Radio - Approval of amended station description with exception of removal of local programming.	West Midlands
Replacement of Easy Listening Format with Rock and Talk and the service to be known as 'Rock Radio.'	North West England
Replacement of Easy Listening Format with Rock Music and the service to be known as 'Rock Radio'	North East England
Smooth Radio' description aligned with the analogue service	North West England
Replacement of the current 'Smooth Radio London' service with the 'Smooth Radio North East' service which is set to launch soon	North East England
Addition of Talk Format and the service to be known as 'CityTalk'	Liverpool
