Note to PMSE licensees in Band III, sub-band 3
Ofcom would like to draw your attention to the publication of a consultation document: “Radio - Preparing for the future”, which can be found on the related items.
This details Ofcom’s proposals to achieve UK-wide DAB Digital Radio in the coming years. Part of this plan is the introduction of 4 or 5 DAB-compatible spectrum blocks in VHF Band III, sub-band 3 (209-217MHz).
Ofcom understands that the proposed introduction of these DAB-compatible blocks may affect the VHF spectrum provision of some PMSE licensees, and is working towards a solution to ensure sufficient spectrum provision for them in the future.
Ofcom, or consultants working on its behalf, will contact licencees soon to gain an understanding of their needs and to consult on proposals to remedy the situation.
If you have any queries regarding Ofcom’s work in this area please send them to PMSE@ofcom.org.uk.
