Notice to fixed links users - 03|10|06
Ofcom gives notice that as a result of the impending spectrum award process the 1452 – 1492 MHz band will cease to be available for fixed links from 31 December 2007.
The only exceptions to this are in the table below.
Date |
||
28 February 2008 |
Wiltshire and East Anglia ambulance trusts to cease using the band |
|
30 April 2008 |
Cumbria ambulance trust to cease using the band |
|
31 May 2008 |
Merseyside, Oxfordshire, Royal Berkshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and Warwickshire (CWA) ambulance trusts to cease using the band |
This extended termination date takes into account the responses that have been made to Ofcom’s letter to fixed links licensees dated 27 March 2006. This approach has been agreed with government.
Ofcom has been redeploying fixed links licensees in the 1452-1492 MHz band to a comparable link in the 1.4 GHz band (1350-1375 MHz paired with 1492-1517 MHz). Ofcom suggests that you contact Simon Mitchell or Jayesh Dudhia on 020 7981 3096 and 020 7981 3151 to discuss the use of alternative frequencies.
Please be aware that interference into the 1452-1492 MHz band may increase from 1 April 2007, due to the launch of communication networks in neighbouring countries. Where the launch of communications networks in neighbouring countries is within the internationally agreed technical parameters, Ofcom can not protect licensees in the 1452-1492 MHz band from radio interference caused.
Further details on the future award of the 1452-1492 MHz band can be found on the Ofcom website at: http://www.ofcom.org.uk/radiocomms/spectrumawards/awardspending/award_1452/.
Point-to-Point Radio Services in the frequency ranges 32.319 to 32.571 paired with 33.131 to 33.383 GHz - 09|05|06
Ofcom is announcing today that a moratorium is being placed on assignments for Point-to-Point Radio Services in the frequency ranges 32.319 to 32.571 paired with 33.131 to 33.383 GHz (OfW 42 refers http://www.ofcom.org.uk/radiocomms/ifi/tech/tfacs).
In Ofcom’s Spectrum Framework Review: Implementation Plan published in January 2005 it proposed to auction the portion of the 32 GHz band that had not been opened for point-to-point applications. It is planning to set out detailed proposals for the award in a consultation document to be published in summer 2006. One of the proposals will be to award, in a number of spectrum packages, the whole 32 GHz band, including the portion currently open for point-to-point applications. Pending the outcome of the consultation Ofcom will not accept further applications for links in the band.
All enquiries should be directed to stephen.talbot@ofcom.org.uk.
