Ofcom Liaison process with the Fixed Wireless Service Industry
The Operations Fixed Wireless Services (OPS-FWS) Unit is the lead Business Unit within Ofcom dealing with fixed wireless services licensing, assignment and spectrum management issues. The new Fixed Wireless Industry Liaison Forum (FWILF) is the main Ofcom/industry liaison forum for the fixed wireless services industry. Meetings will be held three or four times per year. FWILF will act as the main customer-liaison network to provide information and to better understand customers' requirements. Task Groups (TG) will be established on specific work items, when necessary, with defined terms of reference to respond within agreed timescales. FWILF will encourage members to contribute to different TGs in order to achieve quicker response, aid understanding and promote informal information sharing. TG meetings supported by electronic dialogue will be encouraged.
The aim will be to bring people together quickly, reporting to the forum and disband when the work is complete. FWILF will appoint a suitable liaison officer to progress the work within the TG. The liaison officer shall report back on the output and progress directly to FWILF.
The forum will cover issues related to regulations, standardisation, harmonisation, coordination, planning and assignments in the fixed wireless service sector.
