Ofcom Spectrum Awards
Ofcom has a duty to secure the optimal use of the radio spectrum. A key part of achieving this is the release available spectrum to the market, generally by means of an auction. The spectrum awards programme is the process through which Ofcom puts such spectrum into the market. The bands which currently form part of the spectrum awards programme are listed below. What's New
Since the SFR:IP, European Commission has adopted a Decision on the harmonisation of the 3.4-3.8 GHz band for terrestrial electronic communications services (http://ec.europa.eu/information_society/policy/radio_spectrum/docs/in_transit/bwa/bwa_en.pdf). The deadline for implementation is 1 January 2012 for 3.6-3.8 GHz.
