Update on timetable for MIA of BBC’s new on-demand proposals

The BBC Governance Unit has today released more information about the BBC's new on-demand proposals and the Joint Steering Group has decided to extend the timetable for Ofcom to complete the MIA accordingly.

Both the BBC Governance Unit and Ofcom have received feedback from stakeholders that insufficient information has been released by the BBC for them to make informed representations. The Governance Unit has therefore decided to release additional information which is now available from their website at http://www.bbcgovernors.co.uk/docs/publicvaluetest.html

Alongside the publication of this information, the Joint Steering Group has decided to allow further time for representations. Stakeholders will now have until 7 November 2006 to submit representations, making the total period for representations seven weeks long.

In parallel, the timetable for Ofcom to complete the MIA will be extended to 19 January 2007.
