What we don't do
- We don't make programmes or advertisements, nor do we schedule them.
- We don't regulate BBC1, BBC2 or S4C (the Welsh fourth channel), although any commercial services provided by these broadcasters must be licensed by the ITC.
- We don't vet or preview - we can only consider programmes and advertisements once they've been broadcast.
- We do regulate cable and satellite content, but we can't require particular types of programmes to be shown or, in general, to determine the prices charged.
- We don't regulate satellite channels from other countries - that's a matter for their national authorities, whose standards may vary from ours.
- We don't deal with transmission breakdowns - if you suspect there's a problem, call the television company direct.
- We don't deal with problems arising from the installation of television equipment.
- We don't make judgements on the artistic merit or entertainment value of television advertising.
