The ITC's Annual Report for 1999 was presented to Parliament on 27 March 2000. This is an edited version for the web site. The Annual Performance Reviews of GMTV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and public teletext were also published as part of the Annual Report. The Annual Performance Reviews of the regional Channel 3 Companies will be published once the ITC's review of the changes to ITV's network schedule has been completed.
The ITC exists to promote and safeguard the interests of all viewers of commercially funded television, while fostering a dynamic and innovative market place.
The Independent Television Commission was established under the Broadcasting Act 1990.
The Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Members of the Commission are appointed by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. The Commission is supported by permanent staff, under the Chief Executive and by a range of advisory committees.
