Showing Complaints & Interventions Report for JENNY JONES

Channel: Sky One

Date & time: Friday 10 January: 3.55pm

Category: Scheduling

Complaint from: 1 viewer

Background

A five minute promotion, edited down from a full-length Jenny Jones programme, I Party with My Little Girl, featured a mother and her two teenage daughters. They described their drug-taking, drinking and promiscuous sexual activity.

Issue

A viewer complained that the portrayal of this type of behaviour was inappropriate for this time of the day. It was scheduled immediately before Roswell High - a series popular with teenagers.

Assessment

Sky acknowledged that this promotion was not suitable for this time of day and apologised for its transmission. It was scheduled by mistake and they are now reviewing their promotion scheduling procedures.

The Code states that material unsuitable for children must not be transmitted at times when large numbers may be expected to be watching.

Conclusion

This item was in breach of the Programme Code Section 1.2 (Family Viewing & the Watershed).
