1. Introduction

Welcome to the International Contents page of Oftel’s Website. This section of the site is intended to serve as a jumping-off point for those looking to follow what is happening in telecommunications across the world, with a particular emphasis on the European Union. It is maintained by Karine Oliver, who would welcome any comments or suggestions on developing it further.

This section of the Oftel site consists of three major parts:

• The first part is an introduction to the Implementation of the new EU Directives, including historical background.
• The second one is our International Links Page, which contains the contact details and, where available, the website and email addresses of many telecommunications regulators across the world, plus those of several international organisations involved in the field.
