Carrier pre-selection (CPS) will let customers buy their calls from a different operator without having to dial extra digits before the number or change their phone line. It will be introduced on the networks of BT and Kingston Communications during the year 2000.

The implementation of carrier pre-selection is developing through a number of groups, looking at issues such as order handling, consumer protection and technical implications. Representatives from operators, consumer representatives and Oftel are involved.  To view a diagram summarising the relationships between the CPS groups please click here.

This section of Oftel's website includes many non-Oftel documents, written by representatives of telecommunications companies or consumer groups. All such documents are available here for convenience, with the permission of the authors/publishers (who have the copyright). These documents do not necessarily reflect Oftel's views and their appearance here does not necessarily constitute approval of their contents.
