Philip Rutnam appointed Director of Regulatory Policy Layout image

Philip Rutnam has been appointed Oftel’s new Director of Regulatory Policy.

He joins Oftel from the Treasury, where he was Head of the Enterprise Team, responsible for the Treasury's policy on business and enterprise.

He also has wide experience of privatisation and sectoral regulation, both inside Government and on secondment to Morgan Stanley where he worked on private sector corporate finance.

Announcing the appointment, David Edmonds, Director General of Communications, said today:

"Philip Rutnam joins Oftel at an important time both for the organisation and the industry.

"He will take forward much of the important work to prepare for implementation of the new European Directives on Communications and the Government’s Communications Bill.

"Philip Rutnam’s wide experience of privatisation and sectoral regulation from his work at the Treasury will be invaluable for the work ahead."

Philip Rutnam took up the post on 20 May.
