The September edition of the Q4 2002/03 market update replaces the previous version published in August 2003. This is as a consequence of revisions to data in the publication tables following comments from users highlighting an omission in the data published for other business call revenues in Table 14.

These revenues should include called party revenues from NTS. However, these additional revenues were erroneously excluded from the published BT data for Q4 and for the 'Others' operator data for the quarters Q4 2001/02 to Q4 2002/03. This revision also affects total revenues in Table 4 and feeds through to the revenue market share estimates in Tables 3 and 13. The revised market share figures are now broadly similar to those reported in the Q3 publication.

Oftel wishes to point out that the data tables are confirmed with named operators prior to public release. Nevertheless Oftel will take steps to further improve quality procedures and welcomes comments relating to these issues from operators. Also a new style publication is planned for the market updates from Q1 2003/04 onwards. This will lead to some areas of the publication being reviewed and also make a number of changes to the format of the publication tables. One change being considered is the separation of called party revenues to give a clearer indication of retail trends.
