A new Oftel-endorsed leaflet to help consumers compare the quality of service of fixed telephone companies will be published in October.

The leaflet, How well did your telephone company do?, compares the results of BT, Eurobell, Kingston, ntl, Telewest and Thus.

Consumers can compare whether orders were completed on target, the number of faults reported on each network, whether faults were repaired within the promised time, complaint handling, and billing accuracy.

The information in the A4 leaflet summarises the residential Comparable Performance Indicators (CPI) report which will be published at the same time. The leaflets will be distributed to all central libraries in the country.

The information is collected and published by the Telecommunications Industry Forum, which comprises telecoms companies and consumer groups.

For information, contact Chris Smithers (tel: 020 7634 8876/e-mail chris.smithers@oftel.gov.uk).
