Oftel's annual report 2001 was published on 23 May 2002.

Preparing for the new European Directives was a key element of Oftel's work over the year, ensuring that the interests of UK consumers will be fully represented in the new framework.

The annual report also highlights the work that Oftel undertook to support the rollout of broadband and the market reviews that were conducted to ensure the appropriate level of regulation in several key communications markets.

For the first time this year, the report includes details of Oftel's progress against its service delivery agreement targets and its financial accounts and expenditure plans.
