Mobile summary
- At the end of
2001 there were just under 45 million mobile subscribers
- 69% of these
were using pre-pay packages

subscriber growth was 12%: a decrease on the previous period
- Call volumes
grew by 13% and 'calls and fixed charges' revenues by 12% on the year
- Overall retail
revenues grew by 19% on the year, reflecting increased usage of newer
services such as text information

revenue per subscriber increased during the period
- Year-on-year
growth of SMS volumes was over 55%
- SMS revenue growth
was greater than that of volumes, suggesting that there have been
increases in SMS pricing
