Mobile customers and people interested in accessing in the Internet from home will benefit from Oftel's publication of two new consumer guides later this month. Getting the best deal from your mobile phone service and How to access the Internet at home aim to help the growing number of consumers of these services make sense of the many different packages on offer, suggesting different things they should consider when buying mobile and Internet services. Hints and tips on the different ways to pay for your service and how to ensure you don't get stung by unexpected costs are included, along with advice about changing your service provider or upgrading your mobile phone handset. General advice about new services and security issues is also featured. The launch of these guides follows on from the successful publication of a general guide entitled Your rights and choices as a telephone customer earlier this year. The guides were put together with the help of consumers who gave feedback on what advice would be most useful to them as mobile and Internet customers. Oftel received a large number of requests for the general guide and expects strong interest in the two new guides. All the guides will be widely available, for example from libraries around the country. Mobile retailers will be stocking the mobile guide, and UK online, the national campaign to help everyone in the UK to get the most from the Internet, will be distributing the Internet guide. All of the guides
are also available from Oftel and will be published on the website.
