To ensure the efficiency, effectiveness and integrity of the Agency's business processes, through:

* corporate planning;

* financial and management accounting;

* efficient execution and recording of money transactions; and

* the application of resource management disciplines

The well-established process of quarterly monitoring and review of financial and other results continued to be applied during the year, with the satisfactory result that the Agency's cash results for the year were acceptably close to the net running cost target.

The final major phase of the new integrated accounting system project was successfully concluded with the implementation of the sales ledger. This complements the 'RULES' licensing system, and will permit better management of the Agency's accounts.

To complement the new sales ledger operation, the Agency began to handle its own receipts, thus greatly reducing the time elapsing between receipt of cash and having the information available on the accounting system. This was a great benefit at the end of the financial year when receipts and payments have to be very closely monitored.
