ETSI
The reorganisation within ETSI has been largely completed and the Technical Assembly held its last meeting in October 1996. The ETSI Board is now an established body with David Hendon of the Department of Trade and Industry's Communications and Information Industries Directorate as its chairman.
Radio standardisation projects under consideration by ETSI include - EP-SMG (GSM, DCS 1800, UMTS), EP-DECT, EP-TETRA, EP-BRAN together with those in TM4 (radio relay), TC-SES (satellite), the Joint Technical Committee with the EBU on broadcasting standards, and those formerly in TC-RES.
The 'horizontal' Technical Committee, EMC and Radio Spectrum Matters (TC-ERM) (which supersedes TC-RES), has been formed to provide ETSI with a focus for all EMC and radio spectrum issues. The Agency provides the new TC with its chairman Olly Wheaton.
