Mike Goddard - Director, Spectrum and International Policy Mike Goddard - Director of Spectrum and International Policy

Mike Goddard's responsibilities include development of the UK's strategy for the use of the spectrum, co-ordinating with other government departments to determine the national position, and representing that position on behalf of the UK in the relevant international fora.

Mike has been with the Agency and its predecessors since 1969, when he completed a student apprenticeship with what was then the General Post Office, and has been involved in many areas of the Agency's work. Mike's international experience started in 1972 and it has been a main feature of his career ever since. He has led the UK delegation to all ITU World Radio Conferences since 1987, led delegations to the Plenipotentiary Conferences in 1994 and 1998, and serves as the UK Member of the ITU Council. Mike has held many international chairmanships, and currently chairs the European group that prepares for major ITU conferences (except World Radio Conferences), and an OECD Task Force on Radio Astronomy.

Mike chairs the Agency's Spectrum Policy Committee, the two main UK interdepartmental committees on national and international spectrum planning, and represents the Agency on the high-level official interdepartmental committee on spectrum strategy.
