Consultation to be Issued on 2 GHz Fixed Wireless Access Frequencies

*

RA Press Release - 15 March 2000

The Radiocommunications Agency will shortly be consulting on future use of spectrum in the 2GHz band.

BT was awarded a licence in 1995 to provide fixed wireless access services to remote rural areas using radio spectrum in the 2 GHz band. BT has now reviewed the options for providing telecommunication services to remote areas and has concluded that it has other, lower cost alternatives which will enable it to meet requirements under the universal service obligations.
