The telecommunications industry has responded positively to the industry advisory document prepared by the UK 3rd Generation Mobile Group and published for comment by the DTI on 13 February. Eighteen responses were received by the closing date of 31 May.
The Department intends to consider the comments carefully with the aim of producing a Government consultation document as soon as possible. The document will set out the Governments plans for awarding third generation licences leading to the launch of commercial third generation services by the year 2002.
