Indicative Examples of Typical CBS Antenna
H-Plane Radiation Patterns

Below are 5 example H-Plane radiation patterns of typical antennas used for Common Base Station (CBS) systems.

The patterns are used to assist in the planning of CBS coverage areas. By providing an idea of the proposed antenna pattern when applying for a CBS licence you will assist the Radiocommunications Agency in processing the application more efficiently and accurately.

The radiation patterns shown are not precise, and do not relate to any specific model of aerial. They are meant purely to be a guide to show typical patterns for typical installed aerials (e.g. a dipole mounted on the side of a mast will give a different radiation pattern to the theoretical omnidirectional pattern of a vertical dipole).

If the use of an aerial system giving other than omnidirectional coverage is planned please indicate from the patterns below which figure best resembles your intended coverage pattern. If this cannot be achieved a blank figure is included for you to give an idea of your proposed coverage pattern, if this is possible. If you can provide substantial information on a proposed antenna it would help to accurately plan the CBS coverage.

Please note that if the radiation patterns for transmit and receive are different, information is required only for the transmit aerial pattern.
