APPLYING FOR A JOB IN THE RA
|
Investors in People (IiP) is a national standard which sets a level of good practice for improving an organisation's performance through the training and development of its people. The standard is based on four principles - Commitment, Planning, Action and Evaluation, supported by 12 performance indicators. It is against those 12 indicators that organisations are assessed. Everyone agrees that people are an organisation's greatest asset, and we all know that for an organisation to succeed everyone has to perform well. To achieve this, people need the right knowledge, skills and attitude. The Investors in People Standard will give you a framework to ensure that you achieve this. The Radiocommunications Agency achieved IiP accreditation on 4 March 1999 at its first attempt. In June 2002 the Agency was accredited again to the standard. RA remains committed to this standard which underpins our objective of achieving a culture of life-long learning. |
Many job vacancies in RA are open to external applicants. These are advertised on our website www.radio.gov.uk, in national newspapers and the specialist press, and in job centres.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES
The Civil Service is an equal opportunity employer. It is government policy to provide equal opportunity for employment, career development and promotion in the Civil Service to all who are eligible, on the basis of ability, qualifications and fitness for the work. Applications are welcome from all qualified individuals irrespective of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or marital status.
THE SELECTION PROCESS
The candidates who appear, from the information available on their application form, to have the best qualifications and experience, will be invited to interview. Therefore, it is important that you give us full details on your application form of the nature, extent and level of the responsibilities you have held.
After the interviews, the selection board will recommend to the Agency the candidate(s) they consider most suitable for appointment.
If you are recommended, further enquiries will be made into your suitability, and your references will be taken up. If these enquiries are completed satisfactorily (on which the Department's decision will be final), the Agency will then make you a formal offer of appointment.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD
You will be on probation for one year, after which, if your performance is satisfactory, you will be confirmed as an established member of staff.
