The Radiocommunications Agency is pleased to announce that the Amateur Radio Foundation Licence has come into existence from 1 January 2002.

We wish to extend our congratulations to all of those participants who successfully passed the pilot scheme and obtained their licence. We hope that for the newcomers into the hobby, they will find it interesting and enjoyable and we wish them every success in the future.

For those Licensees who already held a B Class licence but successfully passed the Morse assessment element of the Foundation course, we also offer our congratulations and best wishes.

If you were not part of the pilot scheme but would like to take the Foundation course, please contact the RSGB who will be running the courses. They will be able to advise you of the nearest establishment to you that are running a course. The RSGB web address is given under the related sites part of this web site.

The Radio Licensing Centre is now open and receiving applications for Foundation Licences. All applications should be sent to them. Your licence will arrive during January and if you were issued with a 'letter of authority' your licence will have an issue date of 1 January. Subsequent applications will be dated on the day of issue.
