IT Requirements For Bidders

*

At the meeting of the BFWA Consultative Group on Friday 14 July, it was requested that the following extract from the draft Information Memorandum for the forthcoming Auction of licences at 28GHz be made available to give an early indication of the hardware required.

4.4.9 Hardware required

As a minimum requirement Bidders should have access to the following hardware and software to take part in the auction:

* CPU: Pentium 100 or above (Higher spec recommended);
* RAM: 32 MB (128MB recommended);
* Hard disk: 100MB spare (for temporary internet files)
Application will reside and run on remote server;
* Modem: It is recommended that an ISDN connection is used to dial up the system. This will give high-speed and reliability of data transfer. In exceptional circumstances the use of a 56Kb/s v32.bis modem will be acceptable, however this will decrease the speed of data transfer, possibly resulting in a bid being accepted later than another sent at the same time using ISDN. A list of acceptable terminal adapters and installation instructions for the ISDN connection will be available at a later date.
* Monitor: SVGA or above (Minimum screen resolution 800x600 pixels);
* Mouse or other pointing device;
* Microsoft Windows 95/98 or Windows NT4 (service pack 3 or above);
* Web browser software: Microsoft Internet Explorer v4 or above, Netscape Navigator 4.5 or above (or Netscape Communicator which contains Navigator 4.5 or above).

Any enquiries in relation to the Auction procedure or requirements should be submitted in writing to Jacqui O'Mahoney in the Agency's BFWA Section, by e-mail to: jacqui.omahoney@ra.gsi.gov.uk
